At Oku-Yame, a mountainous zone of Fukuoka Prefecture’s tea-producing area, Hoshino Village is highly renowned for its gyokuro, of course, but also for its fukamushi senchas.
For this fukamushi sencha, Mr. Takaki has combined two cultivars: the famous Oku-midori, which contributes strength and umami mellowness, and Fuji-midori, a very rare cultivar from Hoshino, which brings body to the liquor as well as a very beautiful colour.
This is a tea with a lot of fragrance, dominated by chocolate notes, with touches of nuts and spices. In the mouth, this is a very mild sencha, without any astringency; it has strength, but no heaviness.
An impeccable fukamushi-cha that bears witness to the fine natural environment of Hoshino.
