Gokase in Miyazaki Prefecture is one of the major centres for kama-iri cha.
It is in this mountainous area that the award-winning tea producer, Akira Miyazaki, cultivates his organic kama-iri cha.
This kama-iri cha, made from the excellent Minami Sayaka cultivar native to Miyazaki, offers a sweet, warm, slightly fruity fragrance.
With a touch of astringency in the mouth, this tea is powerful and attacks in a rather dry manner, with roasted chestnut aromas typical of kama-iri cha appearing slightly in the background.
Next, faithful to the characteristics of this cultivar, after ten or twenty seconds, sweetness and a little umami begin to appear in the aftertaste, but above all very rich aromas of fruit, evoking peaches and yogurt. The flavours are delicious and remain in the mouth for a long time.
The fruitiness appears more immediately and clearly in the following infusions, which are lighter but not astringent at all.
