In Ureshino, Ôta Yûsuke continues to produce traditional steamed tamaryokuchas even though deep steaming is in fashion. He uses neither pesticides nor chemical fertilizers. His teas have character and remind us of what tamaryokuchas could have been like when they were invented in the 1920s: steamed teas that must have resembled kama-iri chas.
This one is very simple, unshaded, made from the Yabukita cultivar. Its aromas are warm, mineral and a little sweet. In the mouth, there is very light bitterness, but mainly mellowness, something slightly vegetal, sweetness but not too much umami. While the liquor is not strong, it is very present in the mouth.
The aftertaste is mellow and light, but lasts a long time.
This tamaryokucha from Ureshino is a simple tea, very pleasant to drink, with no heaviness or excessively unusual accents, but nonetheless a lot of power. You do not get tired of it.
