The village of Morokozawa is found in the Ôkawa sector, in the western part of the mountains of Hon.yama, along Warashina River. It is in this exceptional environment that Satô Hiromitsu, the producer and creator of the Kogane-midori cultivar with golden leaves, works with passion. He is also known as among the few producers in Japan able to make high-quality oolong teas.
I have been waiting for a long time for this semi-oxidized, lightly roasted tea made from the Kanaya-midori cultivar.
The leaves have a warm, spicy fragrance with hints of honey and cinnamon. The infusion is even richer and more complex. The spicy notes of honey and cinnamon are joined by aromas of vanilla and old wood. The impression in the mouth is fruity, evoking peaches and bananas, while the finale and bottom of the cup have something of sweet flowers.
The liquor is never heavy or aggressive. The aftertaste is light and elegant, but it stays in the mouth, discreetly, for a long time.
