At Shimada in Shizuoka Prefecture, Mr. Matsumoto is the first in Japan to produce smoked black teas. He began with a black tea smoked with wood from barrels that used to contain a famous brand of Japanese whiskey, and then expanded his range of smoked teas with many different kinds of wood.
In addition to the excellent whiskey barrel-smoked tea, in which we find the peaty scents of whiskey and great sweetness, we are offering you a tea smoked with pine, a wood traditionally used in China for this type of tea, which delivers a classic, frank smoke, with bracing scents but also a light milky aroma.
Finally, the third black tea was smoked using apple wood. This delivers a strong smoky fragrance, with warm scents of coals and dry wood, graced with the sweet aromas of ripe fruit.
