The town of Wazuka in Kyôto Prefecture, is the largest “Uji tea” producing area. The main products are sencha and kabuse-cha.
In the Ishidera district, Mr. Kagoshima produces unshaded senchas, which is unusual in Kyôto. This Oku-midori is thus a true sencha.
It has a sweet fragrance that blends vegetal aromas with notes evoking cooked potatoes. In the background, a floral accent can be discerned.
This sencha is very round in the mouth, with umami that is present, but not overpowering. The overall effect is that of fluid, elegant umami, with confectionary flavours echoing in a very delicious aftertaste.
Faithful to the Oku-midori cultivar, this tea from Wazuka is simple, sweet and balanced.
