While Yamamoto Taisen produces kyûsu teapots using very smooth "shidei" purple clay representative of Banko, he also experiments with different techniques and clays.
This teapot, made from clay that is both more porous and rougher, is a good example of the diversity he offers. By exposing it to smoke while it was being fired, he has obtained colour variations ("yôhen") created by the whims of the kiln. For example, some parts of the body of the teapot look like they have been scarred by flames, which have caused the clay to produce natural enamel.
Finally, the motifs engraved on the top of the kyûsu add even more to the strong personality of the work.

※ Since the motifs and colours are produced by flames in the kiln and each piece is completely handmade, each has a slightly different shape and decoration. Each is unique.
