With over 1300 years of history in Japan, tin work is a craft with a wealth of traditions. Tin from Ôsaka (Ôsaka-Naniwa suzu) first appeared in the seventeenth century.
This tradition in the city of Ôsaka is the source of this pretty little tin jar for Japanese tea. Its surface is plain, revealing the beautiful smooth, shiny silver of tin (known as “migaki”).
The handiwork that has gone into this piece is exceptional in its precision. The body and lid fit perfectly, giving the jar a hermetic seal optimal for keeping Japanese green tea.
Capacity: around 50 g (1.75 oz) of Japanese green tea
φ 6.4 cm (2.5 in) × H 7.5cm (3 in)

*These works are made one-by-one, by hand, so it is possible that their shape and colour may be slightly different from in the photos. Thank you for your understanding.
