A banko-yaki artisan, son of a pottery kiln maker and grandson of a fine potter, Yamamoto Taisen’s field of vision goes far beyond the purple clay typical of Banko-yaki. For example, he uses glazes and different types of clay. His work is fine and very light, and, for banko-yaki, the price-quality ratio is excellent.
In Chinese, the term “annan” traditionally designates a region in Vietnam, and, by extension, that country in general. Thus, in pottery, “annan” designates a type of motif that is thought to have originated in Vietnam.
