Uji-hikari
A cultivar for shaded tea selected in Uji in 1954 from indigenous “zarai” tea tree seeds. It is widely used for high quality gyokuro and tencha (matcha). Naturally, it has a lot of umami, but it is very elegant thanks to aromas reminiscent of cocoa. Time of harvest: mid-season.
