This gyokuro from Uji-tawara was machine-harvested and shaded with direct covering. It was made with Uji-hikari, one of the great shaded tea cultivars from Uji.
The fragrance is a sweet, vanilla, vegetal bouquet and is light, yet deep.
Initially, very fine elegant umami appears in the mouth. The tea develops berry candy aromas, but also bitter almond aromas and juicy pear nuances. The whole is once again slightly vegetal, is very balanced and is robust.
Despite receiving direct shading, this tea is very typical of gyokuros from Uji, sufficiently rich in umami, intense, very round and very accessible.
