Oku-haruka

A cultivar for sencha developed in Saitama and registered in 2015. It is the result of crossing Saitama #20 and Saitama #7, and its illustrious ancestors include Sayama-midori, Yamato-midori and of course, Yabukita. It is a very late harvest tea and resistant to cold. Oku-haruka has a high level of coumarin, the molecule that gives the famous Shizu-7132 its characteristic “sakura-mochi” cherry leaf fragrance, although the scent is not as strong in this case. It has its own unique fresh, menthol and slightly floral fragrances.
