Asatsuyu

Developed at the Kyôto prefectural research centre from an Uji zairai tea tree seed. Registered in 1953, it is part of the very first series of tea cultivars registered in Japan. Asatsuyu is one of the cultivars that has spread widely, appreciated for its green colour and easy development of umami. It has a very vegetal scent of beans. Grown extensively in Kagoshima. Time of harvest: early.
