Yamanami is cultivar for kama-iri cha developed at the Miyazaki research centre from a Chinese tea tree seed from Hubei. It was registered in 1965. This variety has very distinct fragrances, simultaneously camphor scented and reminiscent of sweet azuki beans. It also develops a unique light bitterness. This is a cultivar that is becoming more difficult to find. Time of harvest: mid-season.
