Minami-Sayaka

A cultivar developed at the Miyazaki research centre and registered in 1991, this tea is a hybrid of Miya-A6 and F1NN27. Its earlier ancestors include both Yabukita and Takachiho (a selection from a zairai tea tree in Miyazaki), and also Assam and Caucasian varieties. Registered as a variety for sencha, it is most often found as a kama-iri cha, and recently as a black tea. Minami-Sayaka has a pleasant fruity fragrance. Time of harvest: slightly late.
