This is a rare Japanese Oolong, which is to say a “semi-oxidized” tea, in this case lightly oxidized. It was processed in a similar manner to Taiwanese baozhong and comes from Sashima, a small tea production area northeast of Tôkyô.
In addition to some Japanese cultivars, the producer also uses the Qingxin-Oolong variety, one of the most famous and ancient of Taiwanese varieties, representative of Oolongs and baozhongs from the island of Formosa. This is what we are offering.
This tea is a true pleasure, as much in the nose as on the palate.
It delivers a deep, rich, very floral, sweet fragrance.
These are aromas that appear strongly in retro-olfaction, where they also evoke candies and lavender.
There is of course no astringency and the infusion is very fluid.
This Qingxin-Oolong from Sashima also delivers, beyond the incredible floral aromas, feelings of freshness, tropical greenness and, when cooler, very pleasant sweetness without heaviness.
This Oolong from Sashima is a true gem.
Furthermore, the producer uses Taiwanese machines in the Oolong production process.
