This Japanese black tea from Shizuoka was made with the Taiwanese cultivar called Qingxin-Dapang (Qingxin-Damao). Qingxin-Dapang is a venerable cultivar and is considered the variety par excellence for “Oriental beauty” style Oolong tea.
The fragrance of this black tea is delicate, yet rich. There are peach and apricot jam aromas that are not excessively sweet as well as light honey aromas. These aromas are accompanied by citrus notes that become more peppery as the infusion cools.
On the palate, this tea is light and has tannins that always remain very discreet. The aromas are overall fruity with dry wood notes, but also with peppery citrus fruits notes evoking bergamot. Despite its aromas, the infusion is not overly sweet deliver and a light, fluid sensation.
This is a most surprising black tea that differs from other great classic Japanese black teas.
