Murakami Yûichi is a potter active in Tajimi, a city emblematic of Mino yaki pottery.
While he uses many different kinds of clay, most of his works are made with white porcelain. His wares are especially valued in Japan and sought after by fans of Chinese tea, but they are also greatly valued in the preparation and tasting of Japanese teas.
This very elegant tool, serving as easily as a yusamashi as a pitcher to pour infused tea, was created using the “eggshell” style, a style of pottery that is only glazed on the inside.
