This small cup by Nobuhara Katsushi, a Bizen-Yaki artisan, is in the elegant "asagao" shape. Its refined decoration is soft and a result of the whims of the flames in which it was fired. It is unglazed and the differences in colours were produced when some parts were fired in oxidation and others in reduction, in other words, in smoke. Straw was used to obtain the paler lines.
