Very eclectic in his choice of clays and use of glazes, Yamamoto Taisen also produces kyûsu teapots from the purple clay traditionally used for Bankoware.
This one has a domed lid slightly recalling the form of some Chinese teapots.
Light, the clay has been shaped in a very delicate manner, as has been the meticulously designed filter.
The fact that this kyûsu is medium-sized means that it can be used in many ways: for one or more people, for Japanese green teas, such as senchas, but also for Chinese teas – why not? Since this type of Banko clay is very impermeable, if this teapot is well-maintained, there is no reason not to use it for many different types of tea.
