This is a flat Tokoname-yaki hiragata teapot by Gyokkô and his workshop, and is a very good introduction for this type of kyûsu. It is well-balanced and is easy to hold.
The distinct shape is optimally designed to allow the leaves to open even with very little water and the shape also provides good control over the temperature, making this a perfect tool for steamed green teas that are made with whole leaves and are rich in umami.
