Murakami Yûichi is a potter active in Tajimi, a city emblematic of Mino yaki pottery.
While he uses many different kinds of clay, most of his works are made with white porcelain. His wares are especially valued in Japan and sought after by fans of Chinese tea, but they are also greatly valued in the preparation and tasting of Japanese teas.
This “dobin” clay kettle is resistant to heat, which, of course, allows the kettle to be heated over coals, but also over a gas stove. The kettle is covered in an iron-rich glaze.
It is light, very pleasant to use, and the pouring is very smooth.
