Since kukicha is a “demono,” made of stems obtained as a by-product of tea being sorted during finishing, it is necessarily available only in small quantities. It is extremely rare to find a kukicha from a single tea garden and from a cultivar other than Yabukita.
With very little presence in the nose, this kukicha instead develops a subtle, refreshing umami on the palate. It also has the Gokô variety’s fig aromas, though they are admittedly very light.
This tea is without astringency, but is fluid and mellow, with persistent strong sweetness in the length.
