This spring black tea comes from Hinokage, in Miyazaki Prefecture on Kyûshû. It was created using Da-yeh Oolong, an ancient Taiwanese cultivar.
Initially, the tea has sweet honey caramel fragrances, which develop nuances of citrus fruits, mangos and other tropical fruits.
In the mouth, the tea is always sweet, but has depth, subtlety and a minute, delicate tannic note. The tropical fruit aromas are pronounced, but there are also discrete milky nuances. Additionally, there is a very pleasant persistent sweetness in the mouth.
This black tea is full, rich, delicious, but also very fluid. Da-yeh Oolong is an ancient cultivar that is an example of the saying that the best soups are made in old pots.
