The Tsuyu-hikari cultivar is a cross between Asatsuyu and Shizu-7132. It has classic aromas that easily develop sweetness and umami. It sees rather widespread use in Kyûshu, Shizuoka, and the area in between. This cultivar is used in the production of shaded senchas and most other types teas, but it rarely sees use for black tea.
The producer of this tea mainly uses first harvests for tamaryokucha and kamairicha green teas. However, he tends to use second harvests to make black teas.
This summer black tea from Ureshino has a strong floral, fruity fragrance, which are immediately noticeable in the dried leaves.
The infusion displays delicious, slightly creamy, peach, apricot aromas with wonderful floral nuances.
On the palate, the tea is very delicate and velvety. Nonetheless, it is also sufficient strong and very lightly tannic. In the mouth, the mix of sweet, floral, white peach aromas are immediately present and very persistent.
With this second harvest Tsuyu-hikari, the cultivar delivers a very fine black tea. It is mellow, and aromatic.
