Honey, lavender
Oxidation: ★★★ / Intensity: ★★☆
Astringency (tannins): ★☆☆
This spring black tea comes from Sashima, the tea production zone from Ibaraki Prefecture to the northeast of Tokyo. The environment makes it challenging to grow this famous ancient Taiwanese cultivar, Qingxin-wulong. While normally being usually used for oolong tea, the producer also uses the cultivar to produce an excellent black tea.
This black tea shows itself to be aromatic and complex. While being very warm, the infusion has an initial sweet fragrance evoking honey, but we also find Qingxin-wulong’s flower notes, reminiscent lavender.
Without being very strong for a black tea, it nonetheless has presence in the mouth, is almost without tannins, is sweet, and has spicy nuances. And notably, we find the cultivar’s delicious floral aromas that develop especially in the length and in retro-olfaction.
This black tea from Sashima is rich, is aromatic, and is very classic thanks to the excellent Qingxin-wulong cultivar.
