Cultivar and technical information
Tenryû is a mountainous tea production zone located to the north of Hamamatsu City, in Shizuoka. We find a lot of ancient cultivars that have now become very rare.
Yaeho was registered in 1954. It originates from a selection of more ancient seeds sometimes called Sugiyama-yaeho. Sugiyama-yaeho was itself selected by Sugiyama Hikosaburô, the father of Yabukita.
The nose
This mountain sencha delivers a light, sweet, peaty fragrance, evoking dried herbs.
The mouth
In the mouth, this tea is also light and has a good balance between light umami and astringency. This is a simple sencha, but one that nonetheless has a fine, sweet, aftertaste.
The subsequent—warmer—infusions reveal more mineral and buttery nuances.

Here is a classic, introductory tea. It is easy to drink and perfect as an everyday drink.
