This hôji-cha by Mr. Takahashi is perfectly characteristic. It was not made from green tea, but from semi-oxidized (Oolong-style) second harvest Benifûki tea leaves. Naturally, this is a very unusual product, but it is much more than a curiosity: it is an excellent tea!
Its aromas are very warm, but also rich and complex. With the fragrances of Muscat, spices, sweetness and flowers, this atypical tea takes us to the frontier between hôji-cha and roasted Oolong teas. As it cools, the fragrances become even sweeter and more mouth-watering, with notes of candied yellow fruit.
In the mouth it is of course fluid and velvety, slightly sweet, with perhaps a touch of bitterness if the infusion is too strong.
This unusual hôji-cha is a veritable aromatic treasury.
