Sakura leaves, aromatic herbs

Although it has never been officially registered, Shizu-7132 is nonetheless one of the most exceptional cultivars, and it is found almost exclusively in Shizuoka. It was selected from a Yabukita seed at the same time as other outstanding varieties, such as Yamakai (Shizu-7166) and Kurasawa (Shizu-7111).
Here is a Shizu-7132 from Tenryû, which is, along with Hon.yama and Kawane, one of the most famous mountain tea producing areas in Shizuoka.
The dry leaves already deliver the very special sweet fragrance of this variety, evoking ripe fruit and sakura-mochi, the Japanese sweet wrapped in pickled cherry leaves.
These aromas dominate the infusion’s effect in the nose and mouth, along with a sensation of roundness and body. There is umami, but virtually no astringency.
The following infusions change but confirm this very aromatic trend while maintaining great body and a long, powerful, sweet aftertaste.
A sencha from Tenryû that is both aromatic and powerful.
